"The Wonder Team" is the story of the most famous and publicized college
football team to ever play the game. Despite the acclaim that the team
received in the years after World War I, few now remember the talented
and colorful young men who put little Centre College of Kentucky and
the small town of Danville on the map. The "Praying Colonels" of Centre
College beat the major powers of the day despite having only 200 students,
produced three first team Walter Camp All-Americans, played in three
of the first post-season bowl games ever held, and won the hearts of
the entire nation as the "Roaring Twenties" were ushered in. Dubbed
"The Wonder Team" by an adoring press, the team's exploits have now
been recreated and immortalized by author Rob Robertson, a Centre graduate
himself, who has made the telling of the story a true labor of love.
